How is the dance class structured?

  • Amy is a qualified music teacher. She brings all her talent and teaching knowledge to run the class.
  • Alison is a physiotherapist who has worked with children for 17 years. Alison loves group based physical activity and is passionate about modifying community activities to create opportunities for all kids to enjoy them.
  • We choose songs carefully to help work on your child's specific goals- jumping, walking balance and getting on and off the ground are recent examples
  • Amy modifies the music to a pace that allows all children to participate
  • Each child will work at their own level on the specific skills we have been targeting in our individual sessions alongside their peers.
  • The space is designed to meet the needs of the children attending, e.g. soft surfaces challenge balance and props are chosen to target specific skills as well as bring fun!
  • There is an area that allows children to retreat from the main action and watch through windows of a cubby or one way glass.
  • The music is quieter, the class is much smaller, the pace is slower and the sensory preferences of all children are considered.
  • Alison moves around the class so each parent has time to ask specific questions relating to their child's progress.
  • Babies and children watch each other and with time have the confidence to try things others have given a go.
  •
