Why we decided to add another sibling to our family
Apr 28, 2022Deciding whether your precious first baby needs a sibling is a BIG decision and one we considered very carefully! Walky Talky Baby has been such a success and keeps us pretty busy as it is... and we have actual human children to attend to as well!
Plus there are TONS of toddler play tips on Instagram and frankly kids know how to play anyway… so did we really need to create our Walky Talky big sister, Walky Talky Toddler?
The answer we decided was definitely YES!
Why?? Here it is our perspective on play and exactly why we created this new product for you...
After 15 years of clinical experience working with babies and toddlers we have a whole new take on play. Play is the way children learn and as paediatric clinicians we use it to assess where our babies and children are at, and to support the development of new skills. We teach parents how to connect with their babies and children through play in order to better understand and support their development.
Hey Chi is it normal that… ? Hey Ali should my baby be…?
Over the last 10 years as all our friends have started families we get questions like this all the time… Walky Talky educates you about typical development so you can rest easy that things are on track, notice and really be amazed by all the little moments, and know when it is time to get help.
Oh I wish I’d known sooner…
Sadly we get this one a lot in the clinics we work. Often by the time parents find us they are already feeling stressed. Parents know! They often spend time chasing referrals and on waitlists feeling frustrated they are “doing nothing”. Walky Talky can’t replace individual therapy with your local paediatric clinician but it will give you loads of very helpful strategies to start while you wait.
Coffee for 2 on the work account…
Ok in all honesty, it’s selfish! We love being mums and hanging out with our kids BUT sometimes we get bored! We love our jobs and Walky Talky means working on something we love… with a best friend… while parenting! The ultimate multi task! … Seriously though we think the rest of our community also benefits from our friendship because we deeply respect each other’s perspective professionally and personally and together we have a unique perspective on the early years.
