How Our Perth Therapy Services and Small Business Journey Made Us Better Mothers

These lessons might sound familiar parents, sure we learned them when we became mothers... but it turns out we needed to learn them again in business. A glance in the business rearview mirror has helped us see how far we have come on the whole parenting journey too!

One year ago we launched our business baby, an online membership, Walky Talky Baby and we are SO proud and excited to see how she has grown! We love supporting parents on their parenting journeys through our online therapy services Perth and around the world. Turning 1 is a big milestone for babies and business babes alike!

1. Parenting and small business ideas aren’t always born at 1am

Night time breast feeding plus business creation means lots of time to think. Sure we have had flighting moments of genius between midnight and 6am but A LOT of the things we worry about in the middle of the night are not actually true come sunrise! How do we know? The 6am text we receive back from the other person gently telling us so!

This is why we are so passionate about the village component of our membership, which also connects families to trusted therapy services. It is important to us that our members have a calm, professional source of information when they are having midnight worries about their baby’s progress. No, we will not answer them until morning, but yes they can ask us straight away when the worry sets in. Spending time ruminating hasn’t been helpful for us in parenting either babies or business babies. We are action girls in business and parenting, if we are worried we like to get working!

 2. Building a supportive village in Perth for families and small business growth

This year we have had wonderful professional Q and A sessions in our membership from Tarryn from FitRight, Courtney from The Parenting Edit, Andrew from Pharmacy 777 and Tarryn Circle of Security Educator. 

Without all these wonderful professionals, and providers of high quality products, we would be unable to bring such a breadth of information to our members... and bringing a broad, balanced and varied range of ideas to our members is very important to us. 

There are unlimited parenting resources and philosophies available but nobody will ever be exactly the parent you are. Parenting is all about grabbing ideas from friends, family, and other resources and curating them into your very own special brand of Mum or Dad!... turns out building a business and providing therapy services in Perth is much like this too!

3. Our Perth small business structure: Why planning matters for parents and professionals

Taking time to plan can be hard when you are being pulled in so many directions but we have well and truly adopted the old adage from Winston Churchill “Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.” 

As parents, we like tools like visual timetables to create a structure. In business, the tools are more high tech, like Asana and Planoly but the purpose is the same;

• to break each day into manageable chunks,
• to create structure which helps build our confidence as we try new things,
• to help us communicate effectively and to keep us on track to follow our goals.
